Senior Religion Courses

Required Materials

WORLD RELIGIONS:

The text for this course is:  “World Religions, A Voyage of Dicsover” written by Jeffrey Brodd.  The information in this text is essential for a thorough understanding of the religions to be studied.  Each student is required to have a copy of the text and to bring it to class everyday.

CHRISTIAN SPIRITUALITY

The objective of this course is to challenge each student to examine his/her own personal beliefs regarding Jesus Christ.  Many teenagers at this stage of their lives have conflicting emotions and ideas about God and His role in our lives as well as the world.   To lay a foundation for our discussion about God we will begin by reading the best selling novel written by Father Joseph Girzone entitled:

“Joshua, A Parable for Today”

This book is required and the content will be tested.

JOURNALS  (BOTH courses)

During both courses we will be spending time in the chapel on Fridays to give the students an opportunity get away from the pressures and hectic pace by giving them quiet time with God.  A very important aspect of this time is the opportunity to journal.  Therefore, each student must have a journal.  Because of the importance of journaling the journal must meet the following specifications:

Journals are NOT school supplies.  They cannot be spiral notebooks, composition books, loose leaf pages in a binder.  They can be of any size but must distinctly look like a journal.  Journals can be purchased at any stationary or office supply store.  If the journal looks similar to all the other school supplies in your backpack then it is not an acceptable journal.
